Wow, it's been almost five weeks since I've updated this. I'm really not good at remembering. Must be getting old.
Of course, we won the World Cup as you all know. And my brother came to visit me and watch us play on my birthday. That was fun. I think Brendan's feeding him well though because he's really starting to fill out. That's a lot better than being too thin like he was getting there for a while.
The wife and kids are well. I'm enjoying this time off and spending it with them. Rob, maybe you could come visit again soon? Or maybe I'll take some time away and come see you and Brendan.

First off, congratulations Rob. Brendan, make sure you take good care of my little brother.
Secondly. Gold!
World Championship gold, Olympic gold, and 3 Stanley Cups. Yeah, I can definitely say I've already achieved a lot of what I've always wanted to. Hell of a lot of fun doing it too. Wow.
I'm back home in Cranbrook, B.C. now if anybody needs me.

I'm slightly hesitant to post this, but this is my journal afterall, even though I know a certain someone is going to read this and probably be a bit upset with me. I'll try to keep it as non-specific as possible, I suppose.
I've been talking quite a bit recently with a certain...Red Wing, and said Red Wing thinks a certain...West coast player may have a certain problem. West coast player doesn't agree at all, and I'm afraid to talk to him about it because Red Wing talked with him, and I don't want him to feel like we're ganging up on him. I'm not even completely sure that I agree with Red Wing about it, but I'm starting to a little bit. I don't know if it's because I actually think it's true or just because Red Wing makes a rather convincing case.
West coast player sort of had a problem such as this in the not-so-distant past, and a few of the signs are starting to show up again. Maybe it's just the pressure and stress he's going through. I really hope that's it. Red Wing says that West coast player basically talks about it a little too much for it to be stress. I hope he's wrong.
Well, that certainly was vague.
I think what I need to do now is re-grow some balls and talk to West coast player about it. And if he gets upset, he'll get over it. Then again, maybe he'll be alright about it. Maybe I don't give him enough credit.

First off - Happy New Year!
Next, I want to remind you, Rob, that you are way too nice to be an asshole. *smiles* So don't try that again. For those of you who haven't the slightest what I am talking about, little bro and I got in a fight yesterday. And when I say fight, I mean fight. Things were said, tempers were flared, punches were thrown. But after the little wrestling match, things were patched up, and we went back to our usual selves. I am quite certain that he is the only person in the world that I can fight with and then twenty minutes later be laughing over breakfast with. My nose still hurts, nevertheless.
I'm happy for him because he played tonight. He did well, getting an assist. He seemed to be pretty excited about the whole thing. I couldn't stay long afterwards though because I had to catch a plane to Washington.
Rafalski got himself a journal. And now, not only can he annoy me on the ice and in hotels and on the phone, but he can be his mouthy little self right here on my own LJ. He thinks he's better than me, but I'll show him. He will be buying me dinner come tomorrow night (or tonight, technically). Bring it on, woman!

I am looking forward to seeing Rob tomorrow. Of course, we are going to kick his team's ass again. And I'm going to score and he's not. Then for Thanksgiving everybody's migrating to his place in Cali. It should be interesting. He told me he's kind of nervous about meeting Brendan's mom for the first time. I don't blame him. Not that she won't be a nice lady, Rob just wants to be liked.
And I am fairly certain that I haven't yet given Brendan "the speech" so I may have to play Evil Protective Brother and embarrass Rob in the process. I like Brendan and all...well, the little bit that I've been around him, but when they broke up before, Rob's heart was broken - as I'm sure Brendan's was too - but I just don't want him to have to go through that again. Rob seems really happy right now though. And confident. I'm sure things will be fine with them. But I think I should do it anyway since dad probably won't. Mom might though. Of course, she'll do it in a sweet way because she doesn't want her baby getting hurt.
Oh yes, this should be fun.

I picked up the phone about three times today without ever managing to dial a number. So instead I just sat on my couch, staring at the phone, playing over and over a fake conversation in my mind as if it were real. I honestly don't even know what I would say, but I wanted the fake conversation to be true and already over with. Maybe things are okay, maybe I am just being Scott again. Who knows? But while I was sitting on the couch, it was almost as if the ugly off-white color of the phone was staring back at me. And I realized how truly ugly that phone is. It's even shaped ugly. I can't hold it against my shoulder when I try to talk, I have to actually be holding onto it. Which keeps me from doing anything else while on that phone, and that made me realize exactly why I never use that particular one. So now I have to go out and buy a new, cool one for the living room, all because I couldn't bring myself to dial his number.
